This artwork examines the relationship between clarity and distortion through the use of pixelated imagery. Each shirt button is used as a single pixel, and as they are stitched together, the image slowly becomes clear. The piece reflects on how memories are stored and how they fade. The act of stitching the pixels mirrors the process of trying to reconstruct fragmented memories, exploring the tension between what we remember and what we forget over time.

Glöm Bort Mig and Glöm Bort Mig Nu are textile artworks that explore the experience of being trapped in a negative cycle, through the video game The Sims and digital TC2 weaving. In the artworks, I created a sim characters, where I chose not to fulfill any of her wishes, wants or needs, resulting in her becoming very unhappy.
The Sims is a simulation game in which players design and control virtual characters, called "sims," determining their personalities, careers, relationships, and surroundings. For these pieces, I captured screenshots of the sim characters within the game, edited them digitally, and layered them with woven patterns. These patterns were then transferred to a TC2 loom and woven with wool, cotton, and mohair.
The works were created during our residency at the Icelandic Textile Center. The images are from Axén's solo exhibition, The Female Urge To Feel Small, at the Arboga City Library in spring 2023.
