The Feminine Urge To Feel Small

This work draws inspiration from the internet meme “ge To...," in which everyday impulses and behaviors are condensed into short, humorous punchlines. Here, I explore my own version of the phenomenon: The Feminine Urge To Feel Small. The work examines how women are often encouraged to make themselves smaller, both socially and physically. At the same time, a pair of oversized panties spreads across the room. A garment usually hidden beneath clothing becomes impossible to ignore. By enlarging an everyday object closely associated with femininity, the private becomes public and the discreet becomes monumental. The work asks what happens when something expected to take up little space refuses to shrink.
